14 holes at 7 sites were drilled in Fall 2008 to investigate the nature of the Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary in New Jersey. Drilling by the USGS drillers using a truck-mounted auger hybrid coring system (CME stablized continuous sample tube system, 4.25 inch diameter auger hole; Lexan core tube recovery with 3 inch core) resulted in 479.15 ft of core recovered from 516.4 ft drilled (91.3%). These cores will be available to the scientific community after the moratorium period. This research is supported by a grant from the NSF Sedimentary Geology Program.
