The Englishtown Formation is a shelly, micaceous, glauconitic quartzose silty sand. It is part of two sequences. The lower Englishtown is the upper sandy facies of the Merchantville sequence. Above a major contact the upper Englishtown is a sand deposited in a variety of nearshore environments.
