EPS Courses Receive Major "Tectonic Uplift"
In keeping with other Big 10 Academic Alliance programs and to streamline the major requirements in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Browning and Miller (with the help of Professor Emeritus Gail Ashley) have developed and taught a combined Sedimentary Geology class that combines the best of
Sedimentology and Stratigraphy. The class as currently taught intends to teach undergraduates how to “look at rocks.” We bring rocks, cores, and sediments into the classroom and take the students into the field. In the fall of 2019 our coastal plain field trip took us to Shingle Run, a site Rutgers students have not visited in at least 20 years.
