Composite stratigraphy of the Newark basin

Composite stratigraphy of the Newark basin derived from the NBCP and ACE cores. This diagram shows the color and grain size of the units, along with their magnetic polarity (normal is black, reversed is white) and degree of overlap between pairs of adjacent cores. The top of the Boonton Formation and the bottom of the Stockton Formation were not recovered in the cores. [The ACE section is a composite of multiple shorter cores, shown in a separate figure.] ETE is the end-Triassic extinction level. Modified from Withjack et ak. (2013) based on Olsen et al. (1996a) and the NBCP website.
