Geologic map of the Newark basin and surrounding areas. This map shows the distribution of Triassic- and Jurassic-age rock units (formations) within the Newark basin of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York along with faults and major folds. The map also shows the presence of Paleozoic contractional faults in pre-rift rocks. Post-rift rocks of the Coastal Plain partially overlie the basin. Modified from Schlische (1992), Olsen et al. (1996a), Withjack et al. (2013), and Withjack et al. (2022).
