Richard Mortlock was awarded by the USGS for his research titled “Reconstruction of Tropical Storm Activity in the Western Atlantic During the Late Holocene and Late Pleistocene Sea-Level Supported with U-series Dated Fossil Corals.” Dr. Mortlock is providing high accuracy/high precision U-Th ages of fossil corals collected from south Florida for reconstructing tropical storm activity and late Pleistocene sea-level and stable isotope analyses used to generate high-resolution (i.e., monthly) records of late Holocene climate.
