Sophie_Juli_Alissa_MetSoc2023.jpgThe 85th Annual Meeting of the Meteoritical Society was held in August at the UCLA campus in Los Angeles, California. A total of 61 meteoritical society members won travel awards for the conference, Alissa was one of them. Her travel award was sponsored by the Barringer Crater Company, and it was with this award that Alissa was able to attend the conference and give her accepted oral presentation titled "Sector-Zoned Pyroxenes in Young Lunar Mare Basalt Northwest Africa (NWA) 8632: Insights into the Crystallization Kinetics during Late-Stage Volcanism on the Moon". This specific research project is a subsection of her first thesis chapter on the mineralogy and petrology of NWA 8632 and has large implications for understanding young volcanism on the Moon.
