Jason 1Graduating EPS Senior, Jason Kawalec (Class of 2023), was recognized for 3 different awards for Excellence in Undergraduate Research.  For completing the departmental requirements for an Undergraduate Thesis, he was designated as a Paul Robeson Scholar by the Rutgers University School of Arts and Sciences.  Jason was also selected to receive the Henry Rutgers Scholar Award.  This award recognizes graduating seniors who have completed outstanding independent research projects leading to a thesis in their major field of study or an interdisciplinary thesis. These awards are offered across all departments of the School of Arts and Sciences, and so represent only the very finest achievements of our students. 

Most notably, Jason was selected as one of only a handful of undergraduate students for a Chancellor Student Excellence Award.  He received the “Research Excellence Award”, give to a student who produces high-quality research that utilizes new methods of discovery and exhibits advanced critical thinking skills.  Jason was commended on his excellent work on his senior thesis research, as well as his critical role in editing and publishing a student led research journal.
