  • Petrology and interpretation of rocks from the Earth, Moon, Mars and other Solar System bodies.
  • Development of Complete and Comprehensive Analytical techniques for major, minor, trace and isotopic components in materials with micrometer spatial resolution using both particle (electrons, ions, protons) and photon (VUV/IR and X-ray) microbeams
  • Microanalytical determination chemical state of transition elements (e.g.Oxidation States of Fe) using Synchrotron microXANES spectroscopy.

  • Topics in Advanced Mineralogy: A Seminar Series

A occasional semester long series of discussions for graduate students and occasional visitors about techniques and issues in the Mineral Chemical, Mineral Physics and their applications in petrological, experimental and geochemical studies.

  • Methodologies, merits and limitations of various intrumental techniques are

explored in detail, to provide understanding of the usefulness (or lack of!) of much data now widely desseminated in the Geoscience community.
