Sea Level Rise and Climate Variability Postdoctoral Position

The NOAA Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites and University of Maryland invite applications for a postdoctoral research to investigate sea level rise and ocean warming in the observational record and representation of these phenomena in coupled climate models. The goal of this work is to use satellite altimeter observations as well as associated data sets to explore the strengths and limitations of current coupled models in collaboration with the NOAA Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory. In addition this work is expected to provide improved estimates of uncertainty of the historical sea level record. The successful applicant will be jointly supervised by Professor James Carton of the University of the Maryland Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science and Dr. Laury Miller of the NOAA Laboratory for Satellite Altimetry. Candidates should have a recent PhD in oceanography or remote sensing with a strong background in data analysis. Experience analyzing oceanographic and/or satellite data sets and models is highly desirable.
Please send a letter describing your research interests, a curriculum vitae, and a list of three references (with telephone numbers, postal and email address) by November 10 to:
